Does someone know why my Image Dynamics sub is squealing?

Hey Guys,

My Image Dynamics sub recently started squealing when the deck power is turned on. It sounds kind of like a whistling squeal, and it is fairly loud. The sub will still play like normal, but the squeal will not go away. The sub is hooked up in parallel to an Orion HCCA 225 G4. All RCAs and wiring in my car are Stinger products (bullet series RCAs and Pro series speaker wire).

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

The setup:

- Alpine CDA-9835

- Focal Utopia 165W

- PPI Ax400

- RE-XXX 6.5

- US Amps 400x

- Image Dynamics IDQ12

- Orion HCCA 225 G4

Can you please elaborate a bit? I had this professionally installed and it all appears to be well grounded. Where should I begin checking? The ground to the sub amp? Also, what does "ftl" stand for?

headunit ground is most likely the culprit. and ftl=for the lose (or loss).

If the headunit wasn't grounded properly, then wouldn't all of my speakers be squealing (and not just the sub)? My deck has been installed for about 2 years without any problems. I'm not sure where it would be grounded.

I have a crossflow fan on the Orion amp as well . . . not sure if that can cause any problems?

I don't think it is alternator whine because it squeals even when the car is not running (the key is in accessory mode).

I don't think it is in the Head Unit because it continues to squeal even when the RCA's are unplugged from the Orion amp.

Could my amp be dying?
