Larger boxes mean better low end extension (plays the sub 40hz notes louder) but not necessairly better SQ. You also lose power handling as the box gets bigger. The best way to find out how large to build the box is to run the sub's specs thru WINISD to find a reference point that will give you the response range you're looking for, then build a few different boxes around that size to see which one sounds best to you. For example, if you're looking for good response between 35 and 55hz, and WINISD says your box should be 1.0 cubic feet, build one that's 1.0, one that's 1.25 and one thats .80....CAD programs are very handy, but not always perfectly accurate in real-life situations
