Whats Jl stands for??
i have a 12w6 v2 running off of 500 watts if i cross the lpf above 50hz it sounds like crap i mean the low notes sound abnormal and bass sound boomy and crappy if i cross it lower i get the low notes sounding good but i miss the higher notes i tried many crossovers even the one on my eclipse deck same problem any suggestions?

I have a 92 nissan sentra sedan rest of system

H/U = eclipse cd 5425

Front stage = kicker rs revolution 6.5 comps

Comp amp = Jl E4300

Sub amp = Total mobile audio T5001 500 rms @ 2 ohms

Wires = 4 gauge main cable 8 gauge to comp amp 12 gauge wire to sub

Sub = 12w6 v2 ported 1.75 cu ft tuned @ 32

Standard electrical system ps. No dimming and night while bumping music.

Rear fill = pioneer 6.5, 3 way

Would you say you are missing the "punch" of a kickdrum and the like? How are your midbass's installed? I would also cross your subs over a bit higher, around 80hz. Tuning at 32 hz will lead to a big hump in your response regardless, but a good install of your midbass's (/midranges) should pick up the higher bass notes fine

lol i have no problem wid midbass just that when i cross too high it sounds really punchy and not to my taste i like to sounding smooth low and blend with the music even with a seal box sounds identical but ported box gets lower in my car. Example since i cant bypass my amp lpf i turn it to the fullest which is 110 hz and use the deck lpf which is 80 hz @ 18 db and set gains and it sounds punchy doesnt really blends with the music and the low end isnt that noticable. On the other hand if i use a 24 db crossover and set lpf @ 45 low notes sounds amazing and sounds much cleaner but all the punch is gone i just wish i can get a smooth bass responce in car a balance between the too.

Sounds like you dont like your box, I'd try either tuning lower, or go sealed (what I would do)

maybe you need to turn the gain down some when ur setting the lpf higher?? i use to have my x-over at 50.. but i was kinda missing some higher sub-notes and was getting anal about it.. so i now have it set at 82.. i EQd my components so that it has a little peak around 90 hz.. so it blends a little better for me with my higher xover point.

I just came from outside and i used the lpf on the deck which is 80 hz @ 18 db and it sounds down right crappy the notes sound like if they are clashing with one another (jumbled) and im hearing a hint of voice when i go close to the sub

i cant bypass the amp crossover and to me the amp cross over sucks cause even if i cross it fairly low i still notice a hint of vocals comming from the sub and the bass sounds crappy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
