I have a 2 Channel ORION HP-2600 hooked up to a set of Kicker RS series 5 1/4" components. Right now my components are running off my headunit becaues im under the impression my amp is blown.

when the cars off and only on acc. everything sounds fine all is well. once you start the car again it sounds good untill you start to go. Then you hear a faint whine (almost like an alternator whine) turn up the volume and you can just hear a steady whine some more. If you try to adjust the gain any higher it also make the whine alot more noticeable and loud. Ive tried a ground l oop isolator, grouding the RCA's, rerunning wires, New RCA's... i dont know what else to do.

i need suggestions on how to test, what to do, and what to look at to find out if its really blown. Im out of warranty so its either sell it or trash it.

For reference heres the rest of the equipment in my celica.

Pioneer DEH-7000mp headunit

Kicker RS 5 1/4" components

stock rear speakers

Kicker CVR (2 12") su bs

Orion HCCA-1200d

Orion Hp-2600

stinger and knuconceptz wiring

yes we did, sorry didnt mention that.

Do you mean the RCA outputs on the headunit?

im thinkin about upgrading to the Pioneer 4000 In dash video. so i guess if i swap them out ill see if thats my problem?

x2 on the above. i would try re-grounding and a new set of rca jacks before you scrap the amp. if that dosnt work, its most likely a bad cap inside the amp at the input side and that should be cheap to fix

alright ill have to wait untill tomorrow night or saturday afternoon to give it a shot since i have no time today.

when you say RCA jacks? you mean knew wires or outputs on the headunit? i just need to make sure, you know

also if its comes down to being an internal problem on the amp, where do i start to look to fix such things. Or is it a DIY job?

One more thing... i was advised to try hooking the amp up to a device like an ipod, i guess to check if its the headunit thats bad? How would i go about using such method to test?

alright well we messed with it alittle and had no luck. We tried grounding it again and rechecked all wiring. Im going to find a new set of RCAs to try and run those to see if its bad RCA's.

i had a quick thought though. If my amp really was blown. wouldnt it not work at all rather than only when the car is started?

just an update for thos who cared..

amp work now. i swapped in my new d3, re-ran the wires and all is well now. AMp is great, speakers sound wonderful.
