Does anyone work in auto insurance or at a body shop?

usualy 2/3 of the value in repairs totals out a car...
U might be better off with it totaled though seeing as the car is still driveable //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

Say they give ya 4000, to buy a totaled car back is like 10%(give or take) of its initial value.. Fix the tires for like 300, and throw the rest on paying it off. And just drive around with it like that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Problem is, it wouldnt go to me, it would go to the bank. So Id have to pay to get the truck fixed (the scratches have to be fixed, otherwise it will rust), and still owe the bank.

I just printed out $1200 worth of receipts for stuff Ive put on the truck- they have to pay me for what the truck would sell for in my area, this stuff isnt free, so we will see what happens tomorrow.

go on auto trader and shit and print out local listing of what they go for also, it may be a higher value than what the computer says it is.

If your worried about it rusting, just shoot it with primer.. it looks ghetto but gets the job done.

Im in estimating class right now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Checking values for myself wont do me any good- Im quite sure the insurance company has a very complex system, ultimately designed to screw people over.

They did tell me that they total a car when it is within 70-80 % of its value in damage.

So, at $4000 in damage, 80% would mean my truck is only worth $5000.

70% would mean $5700 or thereabouts......

Receipts are going out totaling $1185.......and there are things visible on the truck that I dont have receipts for - ventshades, sound deadening, LED bulbs, etc.

Im going to fight with them as hard as I can- I have a lot of time and money invested in this truck, and I dont want to let them take it because of some *******.

So, updates coming tomorrow- hope its good news.

yes it will //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. When my 240sx was totaled out they only wanted to give me 2000, but i showed that they sold for 2500+ around where i lived.. They upped the value to 2200.

I know how their crazy computer system works, i used one all day today //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Good to know........Should I fax that info over with the rest of my stuff?

So, heres a question I cant get answered by anyone at State Farm- how are my aftermarket addons going to help me?

They say they have to give me what the truck would sell for around here, and obviously it would sell for more with the stuff on it, so it WILL increase the value right?

Since you work in insurance, you think my truck should be totaled? 1997 Olds Bravada, little under 103,000 miles, very good condition before this, all time 4 wd, with the following accessories:

nerf bars- bra- billet antenna- woodgrain dash kit- fender trim- tail light guards- aftermarket tails with led bulbs- fuel door cover- all windows 20%- lots of deadening- ventshades-cold air intake-chrome door handles-billet climate knobs-1/0 wire (most of that I have receipts for, the rest is clearly visible on the truck).

Also has new suspension parts on it. (ball joints, pitman arm, idler arm)

Receipts for eveything helped me.....

Check for $3987.79 and I get to keep my truck....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif :naughty: //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

$500 for tires, $1000 on paint......the rest for whatever.

Thanks for everyones help.

nice, glad it worked out for ya

Man, too bad I wasnt closer to you.....Id take you up on that $2100 total estimate.

Probably just gonna go with a basic paint job, Id hate to get a great one and chip it with all the driving I do.
