Does anyone here have experience with Debt Consolidation?

Good Idea, I remember doing the free credit report thing, but it only showed experian which is like the shittiest bureau
Go to annualcreditreport.com and you can get all 3 for free

I had some stuff on transunion that didn't show on the other 2

You can get a free credit report every 12 months. I use Transunion. I have an account setup with them and I can check it anytime I want. You can chose to view your score for so much and such. It will tell you who you owe, how much, and if its in collections or charged off or whatever. It will also have contact info for most of the companies on it.

I am doing that right now... Now are these reports really accurate?.... or do some things slip by I would assume?
They are directly from each credit reporting agency so thats good. There may be other creditors out there that just haven't decided to report you to the credit bureaus yet, but that should be minimal.

Your report is your best method of figuring stuff out. Don't be suprised if a little down the road something else pops up though.

Thats awesome. I will def print the form out tomorrow at work and send it in to get my credit report in the mail.

I really cant wait to tackle this shit. I just paid my car off, and all my current bills are paid to date(and more), now I just need to get this past B.S off my name so I can become in good standing now. Its great that my girl has excellent credit so I can get on some of her accounts and climb even faster.

Apparently It wont let me do it online, I have to ask by mail. Its okay though.
You may have recently moved or something. They don't have enough background info on you to give you an online report.

To answer your question, don't do debt consolidation. First, pull your credit report. Find out who it says you owe and get their contact information. Your credit report may have a lot of inaccuracies on it. You'll want to contact each creditor by letter disputing the debt. It is up to them to provide proof that you owe them the debt and what the actual amount is. If they do not provide this proof within 30 days, they are obligated to remove any negative remarks from your credit report. Contact them again requesting this. You may also contact the credit buerau to request the removal. After you've determined who you owe and how much, you can then negotiate with the creditor on the amount they will accept as final payment. Set up a payment plan with them and pay it off and on time. As part of the negotiation, make them remove all negative remarks as you pay the debts off.

VEry good reply. I acctually just called in and they are going to send me it in the mail. I will definately dispute all debts I have to pay the least amount to get it off my record, maybe I will get lucky and only have to pay half. I guess well see.

X2

I hate all of the deadbeat fegs in this country... Remember an important rule, all costs get covered! If not by you then it is spread out to the public in the form of a hidden tax or inflation... Bishes.

Not from what I understand, when you settle they set it as 'paid' in your credit. For example mine are still listed from a few years ago :

CHASE

- Account No.: 464018201895**** 46401820**** 46401820****

- Condition: Closed (Paid) Closed (Paid) Closed (Paid)

- Balance: $0 $0

- Type: Credit Card Credit Card

- Pay Status: Current Current Current

This is for an account I owed a little over 5k for so I do not see how it can hurt me, looks the same as others that were never charged off or went to collections.
