If you think that just because a bunch of emo kids go on a stage , pound on their instruments and scream uncontrolably is METAL, you need to get a life. what you listen to isnt METAL. it is HARCORE or EMO crap[iMHO] ive only been able to listen to a few of those bands, war of ages being one of them because they have played here in erie a few times. Jesus Wept is another good hardcore band.

I've listened to about every genre of music ever, and i have a passionate distaste for "old metal".

Sorry for offending you guys, I guess your stuff still is "metal", just what i would consider "old, slow as molasses metal"

Anyone? Reason being, I was talking to this guy that was a friend of a friend, and he said he liked Metal. I asked him who a few of his favorite artists were, and I got Slayer and Slipknot. To me, thats not metal. It just bugs me when people affiliate those bands with that term. I knew where this thread was gonna end up form the first post lol, these threads always turn into an argument over who is more metal. Its tough to classify what is metal anymore since music evolves and there are so many variations of the same idea.

You're just dumb, and I hate dumb.

Slayer is the epitome of Metal, and "As I Lay Dying" is the epitome of crap.

You can't classify AILD as Metal and not, as much as I'd to say this, Metallica. You listen to hardcore, hardcore that wishes it was good.

I'm just going to say this. I have my own opinions on this newer rock/metal, I think it sucks. Just like new rap and what not. Metallica was awesome back in the day. Now they ****. Korn and Godsmack had great first albums but they got worse as they went on. This "look at me, I can scream my ****ing head off into a mic and call it music" shit sucks too. I don't care about double bass drums and guitar riffs if I can't understand the half cracked out **** head who's supposed to be singing. I like the old school bands. I'm a huge Alice in Chains/Mad Season fan. I like a lot of music but there has to be a line drawn between the crap that's put out because it appeals to a market like emo bands and the original, talented musicians who put actual work into their sound and performance. I'm not impressed with newer music because its all about making money and nothing about making good music. Metal, Rock, Rap......all of it. That is just my opinion. Listen to what you like and not what everyone else says is good.
