Not this Metallica, Lamb of God, Slayer, Slipknot, Korn, Mudvaye B.S. either....

As I Lay Dying

As Blood Runs Black

Beneath the Sky

War of Ages

Impending Doom

Anyone? Reason being, I was talking to this guy that was a friend of a friend, and he said he liked Metal. I asked him who a few of his favorite artists were, and I got Slayer and Slipknot. To me, thats not metal. It just bugs me when people affiliate those bands with that term. Along with Rock, or screamo. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

Anyone else feel the same? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif Maybe I'm weird //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

you mean real metal bands like pantera, metallica, iron maiden, slayer? the innovators of metal or the horiible post hardcore metal of today?
That's not metal though, not at all. I respect what they did, and it did carve the way for what we have now. But I honestly can't stand to listen to any of those bands you mentioned.

August burns Red

Emmure

Bring me the Horizon

As blood runs black

All that remains

War of ages is siiiiiick

Haste the day (best live band evar)

Misery Signals

******* Silence

In Fear And Faith

blessthefall

Born of Oasis

Gwen stacy

Evergreen Terrace

Greeley estates

Parkway Drive

Oh, Sleeper

Still Remains

Idk, if you'd consider it metal, but a day to remember is one of my favs.

Any of those bands count?

Thats a better list than i've seen in a while. I used to be hardcore into blessthefall and haste the day, just a little to whiney for me now.

yes that actually is metal, thats where metal came form, the incoherant babble that gets classified as metal today is baffling, not here to argue because to each their on, Ive jsut always defined metal by the melodic harsh guitar riffs and double bass drum, not how deep the lead singer can scream.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

But the double bass isn't that impressive and the guitar riffs are simple for people to play now.

Learn to play the into to Alaska by Between the Buried and Me, now thats original

I love Devil Wears Prada, they are not screamo imo, just because they can rock your shit if they want
right on.

Have you heard the new album by Haste the Day called dreamer?

Not whiney at all, I think it's a VERY well put together album, they did a good job on it.
