I've heard that although 2-ohms allows more power out of your amp but there is a difference in sound quality and a voltage drop.
^^^
is it really noticable??^^^
I'll agree and disagree.
In terms of the speaker itself... No.
But as far as the amp/power source goes, that's a different story. Most amps, as the resistance goes down, THD and S/N Ratio goes up. (Making the signal to the driver more distorted, thus sound is poorer.)
And, as resistance goes down, efficiency goes down (again, in terms of the amp/power source.) So, the amp pulls in a greater current to maintain the RMS it's set to.
As far as THD+N/SNR goes, no.is it really noticable??
thankyouAs far as THD+N/SNR goes, no.
Depending on the amp's topology, the drop in efficiency can become extreme if you're talking about extremely low impedances (such as a half or quarter-ohm load), but generally, I wouldn't worry about it.
