Dodge Ram Sub enclosure for SSA ICON

A couple weeks ago I made a decision to try something new with my truck, and to try a new brand of sub I have never tried before. This is a couple pics of the build.

Jason, at Mobile Enclosures mapped my truck responses and sub characteristics (and probably a million things I know nothing about) and designed a sub enclosure that would fit seamlessly into my truck.

I only took a couple pics of the actual build because I was so into it that i forgot to take more pictures... this is the box.

This wasn't as hard to build as i had expected, even though I only had a circular saw to use (I am cripple and live in a disability apartments) and i have no room for really big tools.

I was able to sand most pieces that were off a little from the saw, but everything fit VERY well considering.

I cleaned it up really good and sanded all the pieces and then started the part i had never done before, which was covering the enclosure. I had always paid someone in the past to do this, but I can't afford that now.

I decided to go with faux alligator skin for the top, just to make it stand out a little. I tried ad tried a thousand different ways, but i still ended up with a couple crinkles around the edges, but all in all, I don't think i did that bad!

This enclosure was meant to replace my arm rest between the front two seats. It fits like a glove!!

I will paint the port black when i get a chance

Other than painting the port to match I am done!

It took a while to save the money up for the stuff to build this cool box, so I don't have the new Sub yet. If for some reason I can't afford to buy the sub, I will probably just end up selling the box to a Dodge owner that can afford it. It was a really fun build!!

Yeah, looks like the big'uns have to go.. It's such a sad thing. My little boy has laid claim to the back seat, so they have to go. I was able to figure out a cool way to keep sub in my truck though. I have to say, it was one of my funnest builds though. No pressure to make everything perfect. I am loving it!

If you need to know what I do for a living, just ask. I am not 16. I don't hide behind my keyboard. I take very well to criticism, but if you want to troll, head to the Dome. I by no means claimed to be the greatest box builder ever. This is the first box I built since I learned to walk again. With that said..

The only other thing I am gonna do is put a thin layer of chrome plastic tape ( I honestly don't know what it's called) over the brad nails that are visible. I think it might break up the all black color. I still have some sanding in the opening to get rid of some sealant. I may not even do that though.

Bad idea imo. I would just sharpie them or paint them black.

I never thought about just taking a sharpie and and blending them in. Thanks for the idea man! And your right TJ, that hole was heck to cut. i have no jigsaw. Just a drill and bits and some sandpaper. I have actually made another baffle for it too. Just in case I want to try an 8 in it or a twelve(maybe, depending on fit). I am just glad to still be able to do the stuff I love!

Hell ya bro.. with a skill saw and a drill you did some good work dude. I use a table saw and jig saw and get about the same quality cuts. Although I dont use faux skin just carpet. Actually, I like to rock plain wood, but that is in my trunk and hidden.

Box looks good, I would have painted the port as I was assembling it instead of waiting till its assembled. Looks like you got some carpet glue on the carpet, dont feel bad I sometimes do that too, though I'm getting better at getting it all over everything else and not on the outside lol.

Lol, The glue kept sticking and sticking, and by the time I got things under control again, the carpet looked like a war zone! I am kinda ashamed about the mess I made. I am still not sure about the port though, I might not paint it. I was thinking of putting a mirror in it so my son can see himself (or his feet) in the back seat. I may paint his name into it somehow too. Bassin, you said 15's? WOW!!!!!!! You're gonna have to take lots of pics, I love Dodge's and it includes audio, considered me subscribed!

resolve carpet cleaner and a good shop vac and an abrasive pad could probably get that out

I actually have those things under my sink, and after the rain stops today, I am gonna give a try. I am really kinda lucky though because the front seats cover up most of the sides. Th rear of the box has the glue on it that I really hope to remove! I got sealant everywhere too, but I was able to make really thick beads and smooth them out and I hope it will act somewhat like putting 45's in the corners. I only did it inside the port. I didnt think it would make much of a difference in the chamber( I could be wrong though, I haven't read much on it unfortunately).

I did read something that kinda bothered me though. I used F-26 as the adhesive to hold the wood together (plus screws), and i never used it with MDF. Does anyone know if there would be an interaction between the F-26 and glue in the MDF that would make it weaker?
