Dodge Dakota Build Log

There is the size of the baffles compared to the cut out. They will stick out an extra~3" atleast.

Moved over a bit to the right to reveal that other bolt i have in there. I can always relocate it though

angle them about 6 inches in front of the opposite listeners face and about 2 inches down.

anywhere in that general area would be ideal.

so use some scrap wood\chopsticks\wood dowels and something like hot glue\ca glue\fast drying shit to mount them - make sure its super strong because when you stretch the last layer you dont want the cloth to sag and look like crap. and make sure the .5 inch lip (at least) is super strong too, because when you stretch it will flex away from the door panel, you do not want it to warp.

the right wood panel thing is to raise the right hand side up to get more airspace in the enclosure. its not a cut out. if you dont do that, then it will look silly (imo) and get really flat looking on the right half of the door. basically cut a piece of wood just past the size between the right speaker edge and just short of the lip you made, then mount that just like your baffle.

just make sure it does not bump into your seat when you close the door.

by the way, are those manual windows?
you might have to do something fancy so the pod does not interfere with that radius...

yeah there manual =(

i have plenty of clearance between the two though.

I have to go for now but i will be sure to send you a msg if i have any questions. Thanks for the help man, much appreciated.

You don't do that to a Dakota. It's a waste. I was going to put one in mine but decide, a Dakota isn't worthy of a after market sound system.
That was a worthless post...

Why do you think dakotas are a waste for systems?

I have a quad cab... tons of space

Mine is also base model so i dont have as much shit in my way(cables and switches)

I Think its almost a perfect truck for a system.

Anyways went out and bought some Fiberglass stuff

-Resin 35$ per gallon I also have about 1/4 left over from last time.

-Bought 3x 9ft^2 sheets of FiberGlass for 7$ each, Also have some leftover from last time.

-Got some plastic buckets instead of using my melting styrofoam as usual

-some cheap brushses

-spent 6$ on blue tape only to find I still had 3 rolls at home

-Lowes didn't have type of body filler i needed in 1gallon container so ill pick it up later else where

Also Re cut the Door panels out of 1/4" plywood to save space.

Planning on glassing the bowl shape on atleast one door and maybe the other too tonight

First Layer of resin:

Second Layer:

It wasn't supposed to come apart from the base wood like, the FG ate away at the Glue i sprayed on. No worries though, ill just slap some Resin in between. I cant clean the edjes up tonight, to late but i might drop some more resin on it. Ill see how lazy i feel in 20 min

I think i put to much hardener in the resin, its gooping up on me after a few min =/ this is all off my leftover resin to, could be cuz its old.

if you're still shopping around for the mids, the alpines 6.5s I have (referenced in signature) fit really well in my durango and would complemet that head unit nicely. I'm running four of them and the sound is perfect-o. No distortions (and alpine should pay me for this...) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
