Doctors apt Ruptured ear drum....awesome

What do you mean "clicking"?
I can click both ear drums because I can open my eustachian tubes at will. Doesn't mean my ear drums are ruptured.....
Yes I guess I can do the same thing if that's what it is. It seems to be more pronounced now after I've listened to music at high volumes for extended periods of time over the years. It's almost like a habit now I probably do it over a thousand times a day. And I didn't mean this was a sign of being ruptured. What I mean is that my ears just don't feel quite the same anymore and it's like I keep clicking away trying to reach that ideal point of comfort I had years ago if that makes sense. Sometimes u just gotta chase dat chit! [the dragon that is' date= lol jk]

Ill say my ears are always sore and they seem to always have water in them from the shower. PITA. Also its more so the highs at loud volumes than the lows that do you in. I know some kids with a respectable single 12 and then a door full of pro audio that i cant tolerate for 30 seconds let alone daily cruising. Also it should be noted that Ive had my share of 160+ demos.

Had a hole in my ear drum a few years ago from a qtip getting jammed in my ear. Everything sounded funny for a few months but it eventually got better and is fine now.

yeah ive heard loud also, thats why this has me thrown so badly. I dont think im loud enough to do it.
Well also consider there are two factors in the equation. Intensity, and duration. You may not think the intensity of your output is high enough to do so, but with a long enough duration it may have been the straw that broke the camel's back, so to say.

All i know is that I would come home half deaf from school and it would take my ears a good bit to "clear". Music that is physically loud enough to cause coins to rattle and cause a car to vibrate can only be wrecking long-term havoc on your ear drums, which vibrate in their response to sound on a normal basis. I know a guy who just had some kicker comps for an extended period of time and he's practically deaf and wearing hearing aids at 40.

I think 90-95 db is where hearing damage starts to begin. Thunder is like 120 db. Idk about you but I listened to my system well over 100 db. Chit I feel like the AC in my apartment causes hearing damage lol.

Great. I've been running my 5k amp @ 2.7 ohms with the gain way down. I am honestly nervous now for when I switch it to .7 and run the gain @ soft clip. Thanks a lot for this. I am going to be paranoid now.

My understanding of hearing damage, is that lower frequencies are much less likely to cause damage. Also, sudden loud noises cause more damage (ie gunshots), than a gradual increase in volume. The length of time exposed to loud frequencies is probably the most important factor that determines if damage is temporary or permanent. All that said, it really ***** that that happened to you.

Do you have any ear ringing?

I had both of mine blown out a few years back, took about 10 days for the right side to hear again (less ruptured), and about six weeks to really hear anything out of the left. Sadly the left side never really came back 100%, but your brain has a funny way of balancing those things out to where they're not noticeable over time. I just hope you don't have any ringing, cuz that's a absolute pain when it comes and goes, I seriously can't hear someone talking five feet from my face sometimes.

Hearing loss is cumulative. I've learned this from my firearms hobby/lifestyle. Even shooting .22's outdoors can cause permament hearing damage over a long time. This is why I always use hearing protection. My grandpa is pretty much deaf from his time in the Army and shooting guns all his life. I don't think he ever wore hearing protection. Also being around tractors factor in as well.

My buddy forgot his ear-pro and shot a clip from a Garand, he couldn't hear well for awhile.

This is why I hardly go to loud concerts and I don't focus on SPL systems. I mean I love loud systems and think they are awesome. But you will hardly ever see me sit in a loud car for a demo. I highly value my hearing so I go SQ mostly.

I hope your hearing will come back. I had a really bad blockage in my right ear that was incredibly painful and it svcked not being able to hear things well until I took care of it. I also can click my eardrums, I thought I was the only one lol.

My right ear is kind of messed up because of an incident at the shooting range. Dude next to me had a fucking 16" DPMS AR-10 in 7.62x51mm with a muzzle break. 10 shots from that WITH ear plugs and I was gone........

My skull hurt for a couple of days too........
