Do you use screws or nails

This is how I look at it:

If your using clamps, nails are fine to hold the pieces together untill you get it clamped up.

If your NOT using clamps, you had better be using screws. Unless your using a framing nailer (very highly doubt anyone uses one for building boxes), nails will not be able to hold tight enough to make a good glue joint. So you should use screws to make sure of a good joint.

 
i don't use clamps. i just have someone help me hold the pieces together. never had a problem
Well think of it like this. Which will make a better joint?

2 pieces of wood getting pushed into the same direction, or, 2 pieces of wood being pushed in different directions toward each other?

Not saying you doing it wrong. Just showing that maybe using screws would be better if your not using clamps.
