2 Weeks ago i had a reverse osmosis system sprang a leak and flood my kitchen and dining area, problem is water entered the townhouse adjacent to mine and caused some damage. My insurance company said you were not at fault and we will not be paying his claim,so he pays his deductible (500.00)and says to me that his ins. company gave him 900.00 to fix his floor and would i pay his deductible, mind you i was gonna offer 250.00 but when he asked me to pay the whole thing i got pissed. What do i do?

I wouldn't pay a cent! His insurance deductible is just that, HIS. You didn't choose what deductible he should carry, did you? Insurance is for accidents just like this and each person is responsible for their own **** deductibles pertaining to the policy THEY chose to open. It wasn't negligence or stupidity on your part, so why does he feel you are responsible to pay his deductible? Tell him to **** off and if he don't like that answer then he can higher an attorney to go after your insurance company because they decided it wasn't their responsibility to pay his damage claim. If your insurance didn't find it their responsibility then it certainly isn't yours.

I'd think the owners of the town home should be at fault....and pay
i am the owner but according to the ins. company i'm not at fault because i didn't leave water running or anything like that and they say if he want's reimbursement he should go after culligan

it's an honest answer. If you pay anything you will become a responsible party from here on out. If they (the owners next to you) really feel that responsibilty lies with you then they need to hire an attorney to speak to your insurance company. this is why you carry insurance. You don't carry insurance to pay other peoples deductibles. What if he chose a policy that had a $2000 deductible. Would you still be willing to pay that as well when you had no choice in the matter? I guess it really depends on how friendly you are with them and how much the peace is worth to you. Quite frankly I wouldn't care to be friend with anyone who came up to me with such an asinine proposition.
