Havent redone mine in a looooong time, anywhere online line that might show a few good pointers to make it look as professional as possible? and i cant remember but what program is pretty user friendly for making one .. man it really has been a while

You can find this kind of information by searching for resume on yahoo. Im pretty sure microsoft works has a resume wizard and I think MLA has information on this too

I would try making it only one page if you can. If that means dropping the font a little, then do it. Dont go under a 10pt font though.

Make sure your heading (name address telephone number, whatever) sticks out a little, but not too much

keep everything as organized and clutter free as you can. your resume is pretty much a mirror reflection of you to the employer you are giving it to. If they see it does not look good, or is unorganized, they will think you are unorganized and do not take pride in your work.

i could go on and on, but i would just try to make it really nice looking. Good Luck!

Do Not use complete sentences on a resume. Also, tweak it a little for each company you turn it into. For example, rewrite your objective to fit the position you are applying for.

Don't force yourself to stick to the one-page rule. also, I wouldn't go below a 12 font, but thats just me. Keep it brief and interesting, though. You want them to know enough about you, but you also want them to have something to discuss with you in an interview. Don't tell them everything.

PERSONALIZE your resume. Maybe use a format from MS Word or Works, but change the fonts, etc. Make it stick out from the pile, but don't let it get unprofessional. Make them see that you are different and unique, but you are professional also. If you are going for a job that requires creativity, be more creative with your resume, add a bit of art (sophisticated/tasteful. not clipart) in your heading. If you are going for say an office job, keep it more straight-forward.

A good cover letter is what really sells you. Tell them how you are excited to interview with them, and tell them a little of what you are looking for. Don't be a **** up, but pump them up a bit. Also, make sure it is brief, but well-written and catchy. The cover letter is the first thing they will see, so make sure they will want to keep looking.

Most online resume applications are now computer based where the comp searches for key words for potential applicants. So with that said, mapolley has several very good points. I also put some of my strong points at the top of my resume...here is a quick snip of some of my resume...

If you have two pages of good experience then that is okay. If you mention your experience working as a cashier at Dairy Queen, then leave that out.

Forget the one page thing...sometimes you need more then 1 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Not always true...If he is going for a manager of a retail chain, money handeling is a plus. I cant even start to tell you how putting "shift leader" of Mazzios pizza has helped me when asked if I have any management experience //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

When I talked to the admissions counsellor at Yale, they told me to remove my 5 years of supervisory experience at Lowe's. They said a gap is better than working retail.

Instead of spreading it out
Why don't you put som of it on one line

"Certified and proficient in Microsoft Office applications"
That was on my resume to begin with, but I kept getting employers asking me which sofware, even though that was there. So I spread it out and the question has gone away lol...
