I want to build my own box never done it before I've got a single dcon 12 in a sealed box and I want to make a ported box but I want it to sound good with a low tuning somewhere around 32-34 so when my sub is in to give me around 36-37 I listen to about 85% rap and the other is country and rock. I'm giving the dcon 400w rms. I've heard of ppl using resin on the inside of the box but I've also heard ppl say its stinks and if your sub gets hot it can smoke. I plan on smoothing all the surfaces in the box down, do I need to mess with all that resin and 45 degree angles in the corners or will a regular box with a good blueprint work??

I like the sound quality now I just want more output so I was gonna go ported whats a good tuning to keep my quality but still let it get loud. Also will 400w rms be too much for the dcon in a ported enclosure as long as I tune my gain with a dmm???

Actually it says on website I need around 28-33 hz in a 1.75---(2.25cuft optimal) Box. I will be sticking it behind my seat to fire upwards, I think I'm gonna use one of the free box plans on here. What would be a good oneand how would 45s in the corner effect tuning

I wouldn't tune under 33 in your case to be honest. Even 33 maybe be to low for some of your other music tastes. 45's won't effect tuning itself it just helps with air flow and port noise.

As for volume, you could be 1.75-2ft3 and be just fine and your power shouldn't be a problem as long as it is not clipped of course.
