Do i have enough mounting depth?...

i'm currently building a box for a 12" type x, and now that i'm in the middle of the build....the guy i'm building it for brings me the sub, and now that i realize how deep that thing is, i went to double check my design.....and the mounting depth of the sub is 8.6"....and my available mounting depth is 9.25".....and i measured the vent pole on the sub and it's around 1.5"....how bad will my short mounting depth affect the performance of the sub...

Your Type X will still get plenty of airflow. Nothing that you should be concerned about.

ok thanks guys....i was pretty worried about this, because i heard that the sub had to have as much space behind the motor as the diameter of the vent pole....i know i could've mounted the sub on another baffle, but, i plan on doing a custom baffle, and it wouldn't look right with the sub not flush.....btw this is for someone else, and i believe it will be goin in a scion tc hatch...

You could always do a triple baffle to give it an extra .75" of depth if you feel so inclined.

so would i be able to hear a difference, or harm the sub by only having .65" of space behind the vent pole?
