do amps really do rated power at 1 ohm before they begin to distort and sound like crap? Wouldn't an amp be more likely to put out more power while being at a higher impedance due to less distortion? i would like to understand this more, please edumacate me:)

I actually like to run my 1 ohm stable amps at 2 ohms for the single fact that they don't seem to get as hot when you crank them for long periods of time.

I know a guy that has the same set up as me but He already fried 3 amps because aside from being an idiot he runs his at 1 ohm.

His might be a tad louder but his starts clipping within minutes when mine keeps on going.

mine does... a little more than rated actually @ 14v. biggest drop i've seen is 13.8 which still gives me more than the 1000 it's rated at. can't say for 100% sure it's not clipped, very seldom do i listen full tilt, but from what i hear it is not clipped. so yes amps are capable of doing rated power. it's not hifonics though...

You're an idiot who has no idea what he is talking about...I don't even know where to begin.

basically what i'm saying is " when you have an amp that is being run at 1 ohm, what are the chances you can actually get to the amplifiers rated power before distortion kicks in and forces you to turn it down"?

Think about this question for a minute and I hope you will realize how impossible that would be to answer....

welll..... u are missing some.... i see that alot of the amp are underrated at higher ohms.., not that the amp doesnt do rated power @ 1 ohm...
