Dmm tuning I guess

No problem man let us here how it turns out I totally understand that cold weather ish being from Michigan.
ok soo... heres how its gone down so far this morning my sony deck goes to -10 + 10 so i set as follows lo 0 mid 0 hi 0 sub 0 aux 0..

3/4 vol is 36 hooked to my aux cord is my iphone with freqgen app playing 50hz tone ...

seems to not matter what i do with the freq (hz) setting on the amp doesnt change my dmm reading .. its set about 80..

the plug i disconnected the sub from and plugged back into the amp. put my dmm in the -+ and played the 50hz tone turned my gain setting up till i reached target voltage 54.7 so now my gain is sitting at about 10 or 11 oclock... at this point i experimented a bit and did things like turn the lo mid hi and sub and aux up individually and in different combonations to see the voltage differences i think of the top of my head it was something like from 54.6 turning the deck lo up to +3 put it up just above 60 on the dmm anyways..zeroing the deck back out and making sure the meter read right i hooked up my sub and threw on some music and turned it up gradually to 35 and there was pretty much no BOOM so to speak the sub wasnt even working hard??.¿¿ so i tested the -+ with my dmm and whoa i think it was like 30.3 ... what happened.. so i turned things on the deck up again ... sounded alright but stil no mad flex on the sub ... jlhd1200 on a 12w7HO

First off, you need to use a -5 db test tone. And I dont know how the tones are on that app, but you might want to download one.And try using a 80 hz tone.

Sine Waveform | Online Sine Tone Wave File Generator
Ya I'm just retarded and ended up scrolling around the site.. Does anyone have a link directly to this tone.?? Or a link as to where I can buy the cd I can't find it even on ebay

Realm of Excursion has free test tones but I don't remember where to find them on there or you could try creating some with audacity.
That link I posted up there^^^ somewhere is a sticky in this forum and it says to leave subs plugged in while performing the test .. ???? Thoughts....

I'm really surprised more ppl aren't jumping on this problem..

dmm is not the best way to set your gains. you will most likely still be clipping. just be conservative with your gains and don't turn them up alot to try and gain output from the sub. and i've never really liked the output of a sub facing towards the front

I know this system should be LOUD but I just don't want to damage anything.. Dmm no good ? You need to check the sticky on this forum
