Dmm readings

need a bit of help. im trying to reinstall a couple of things and test a couple of woofers for their conditions. Last time i had to mess with the gains was a while ago so i forgot most things and thats where i need the help.

When i put the dmm to the amplifiers (sub and speaker) on their ground and power wires im getting 12.3 volts when the car is off. Sweet... but when i do the same thing on the speaker terminals i get no readings.

Also on my viper 2500 the power light doesnt come on. when i last hooked up my arsenals to it was giving power... but i noted that there was a huge decrease in power ouptut coming from the amp all of a sudden. I took the arsenals out of the car and ive been too busy till now to adress this problem.

would you guys know whats up with any of these problems?

For the reading on the speaker terminals you have to switch it to AC instead of DC. I don't know the the answer to your second question though, good luck!

test tone was playing at 50 hz. it isnt on... and i checked the wiring, its all good to go. Fuses are all good to go. Shit i think its a goner //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

ill check this thang again.

Ah, I missed that part.
Hmmm....Checked to be sure the REM wire is sending 12V to the amplifier?

remote wire? Im checking today... had work all day last couple of days. But isnt it if the remote wire wasnt plugged in that the amp would be on 24/7? still checking today //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Incorrect. If the remote wire is not plugged in, the amp will never turn on. With the car on, put your dmm on the remote lead and the ground. It should read about 12v. If it doesn't, your remote line might have a break in it, it may have been disconnected from your headunit, or your headunit may not be sending the signal.
