DLS COMPS? Input

I notice there is not alot of talk about DLS comps? Are they not good components? I was looking at the ultimate UP6 and UR6S sets and want to her your input on them. and same with the reference ms6 set.

They seem well priced and look like solid drivers.

I remember when people talked about the iridiums for a while....they are suppose to be pretty good for the price, I almost bought the 6.3's =P.

I had the ur6s and well, very musical detailed mids. The silk tweeter was smooth and blended incredibly well with the mid.

Iridiums are extremley good speakers, I would look into getting them.

i listened to the iridiums before. overall a very nice set. very laid back. nice silky tweeter.

I am very happy my my 6.3's

everything sounds great, they match each other very well. I wish the tweeter had a little more high frequency extension. They are not particularly 'airy' - but I have not been able to find a suitable replacement which sounds as good with the rest of the set. All the other tweeters I listen to sound kind of hollow compared to the IR1. It really works like a small midrange. Also the only drivers I have found which I like as potential replacements have other fatal flaws. Like a 5 inch mounting plate, or extreme directionality.

Also - they came alive when I went to active crossovers. The IR3 mid seems to be less efficient than the other drivers, so there is some major attenuation in the passive crossover at least on the tweeter side. That may not be the case with the 2 way sets.

My favorite driver of the set is the midrange. As much as I believe that I should be able to run the front stage as a 2 way, I can't imagine life without the IR3 mids.
