well i got my 9857 installed and the only problem i'm having is keeping bass out of the mids, i have like every bass control setting on the cd player as low as it will go but on some songs it still decides to get bass to them. i dont think they can handle it at all because even a little bass they distort and crackle and stuff.....so i dont know whats wrong, i have my high pass on the amp turned off..

highpass at like 80 for the subs, i believe it is so your mids will only pick up at 80+
you mean lowpass the sub at 80.

To the OP, What are your crossover settings? what is your setup? active or passive? if passive then the passive crossovers will only highpass the highs and lowpass the mids. it will not set a highpass for the mids so its possible your mids are seeing the sub bass frequencies at normal decibel levels. Just highpass on your HU at around 80 @ 12db/oct or 24db/oct.

I'm running passive. How do you set the highpass on that HU.....it has the bass engine where you set the frequencies of the treble/bass and i have them all at -7..I'm probably stupid and missing something.

you have to go to the crossover setting menu. check the manual if you don't know how. then for whatever set the highpass for the preout you used either front or rear for around 80hz @ 12db/oct or 24db/oct. don't set it to off. try that and work from there.

i checked there manual, i can't find shit. i dont even think it has one

i got problems everywhere, when the sub starts getting loud it will always get quiet for a second, but the amp doesnt shut off, but once the sub gets somewhat loud it somehow quiets itself and when i turn the volume down it will go back up. i'm sick of this this is why i got out of car audio its a waste of money...

problems (that are fixeable) is what makes car audio fun. its challenging. If it were EASY, everyone would be doing it themselves and building crazy subwoofers.

there is no crossover on this deck, i did some searching and all you will see is how pissed off people are about it, this ****ing sucks. no crossover, you got to be kidding me. how the **** am i gonna keep my bass out of there, what a rip off you **** alpine

no the 9855 does have a crossover. specifically a 3 way xover in advanced mode. but if you got the 9857 (which is listed in your sig), you are right there isn't a crossover. Alpine's quality has gone down dramatically since best buy started carrying them.

The 9855 has the same Xover menu as the 9835, IIRC...

Should be a button on the bottom left corner, hold it and it should bring up a menu with different sloping lines. You can set the HP/LP from there.

i'm an idiot, did i type 9855, i meant 9857.......LOL

Should i just turn back on the Amp's crossover? Alpine you have gotten to be kidding me.......i can't even listen to rap without my front speakers distorting. F'ing ridiculous.
