DIY or not

OK here is my dilemma. I have an aura crossover, that came with no literature of what the xover points are at. I have been reading through pages and pages of DIY threads, but without knowing the points for the aura xover, its making it difficult for me. Also many of the DIY woofers\tweets are 8ohm, and I am going to bet and say the xover was created with 4ohm woofer\tweet intent?

I dont have a ton of cash, I will have an amp providing about 100wrms per side, if my friend doesnt decide to buy it, or I will be in the market for a new one. For now they will be HU powered.

Here is what I have been looking at, I have 3.25" of mounting depth to play with, and thats after a 3\4" baffle.

This is going to be a cheapo project, ~100 bucks

Or should I just scrap this whole project because Im not really going to benifit from it because I have a iffy at best xover, and buy a PG xenon 6.5 or Alpine Type X comp set? I am trying to stay away from tweeters that I will have to cut my door panel to fit them.

Thanks for any help etc.

Sounds like the best idea to me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Trying to scrap together a comp set using a crossover you are not sure about is not a good option, ever.

Yeah thats what I was thinking. Plus the xenons have good reviews, and I can mount the tweet like a coax. lol thanks squeek, all I needed was one person to say something to make me decide =)

I believe my hu will allow me to do that, however like 6spd said, I am using hu power for awhile while my friend decides if he wants to buy my amp. Fine with me because I actually like how it sounds right now, I just wanted more detailed tweets and vocals more than anything.

I need to get the manual for my 25th anniv. kenwood, I would be shocked if it didnt have the ability to do it. The only thing I miss about my 860 was the pro mode or whatever they called it...

The internal crossover typically only applies to the preouts. Hes using deck power, so it would ultimately be useless to do it.

DIY is fun and the stuff is pretty cheap! I just bought some of those Dayton Neo tweeters that you listed and the Dayton reference woofers. I haven't tried it yet, but I have a crapload of parts sitting around at home (PE had some $0.25 tweeters that I just HAD to grab for fun).

I'm building some crossovers based on Dylan's crossover design in his component set. Too bad inductors are so expensive... The total price will come out to be just over $100, not including the bass shakers I just bought.

**** expensive inductors... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

When I can buy 1000+ of them at a time the price will go down a bit though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
