I don't think there is a way to prepare for it. He broke down in every sense of the word, so I had to take care of him for a long time starting when I was 14. Needless to say, that changed my whole outlook on love and marriage.

It all makes sense now...

HELL yea longer than a year. Say around 3-5. you guys need to enjoy yourselves during that time.

The only problem I see is when you wait this long. When you do have a baby you won't be able to live life how you lived it for the past 3-5 years.

Currently, I don't think it's time.
For those who may have been "scared" beforehand, did you evolve into feeling the right thing, was it sudden, or what? I am curious if I am going to feel different in 5 months and if so, what is going to prompt that change in feelings?

Long enough for your relationship to develop as a married couple where you go places and accomplish things that you would not be able to do as parents.

Thanks. For example, I am fairly clean and keep things up. She is messy. She doesn't seem to want or improve. Not sure if that can become a deal breaker.

I got married a few months ago, I was on the fence about doing it or not and its funny because me and the wife are the same way. Im clean and organized and shes messy. I thought this would be a problem but I really dont care anymore, I do my part and she does hers she has been getting better with cleaning etc... I also gave her her own room in the house for close and getting ready that she can make as messy as she wants and I just dont go in there Lol. Honestly getting married was the best thing I ever did and I just wish I did it sooner! Things seem different for some reason after being married but different in a very good way!

Got married on our 9 year anniversary, have owned a house together for a few years now. We have pretty much been married for a while minus the ring and paper work. I still say its worth it!

And OP I would recommend not listening to people who have never been married or people who have been divorced because the people who havent been married have no idea and the people who are divorced never really had a real marrage imo.

And my old lady goes to the gym all the time! Lol, we have both gone up and down in weight its just what happens in life weather your married or not
