the displacement of the flares is not important because the volume of the box can change 5% without affecting tuning. its much more important to get port area and port length correct. even with spl i am not worrying about the volume of the flare.

SO PLEASE HELP ME ALSO, I am building a box for 2 12's that is going to me 4.5 cubes, Im useing 2 4" PVC tubes tuned to 33hz

I tried to do the (PI*R^2)x Port lenght/1728 and I got the port displacement of .334 is this close or nowere near?

all pipes are different.. PVC is thicker than PSP & i've got some PVC that is thinner than normal PVC & thinner than the PSP pipes, but stronger.

I KNOW HOW LONG MY PORT NEEDS TO BE... THAT IS THE CALC THAT i USED, I just need to find out the amount of room they displace so I can add that into my box calculations.

THE PSP CALC HAS DONE THAT FOR YOU! The calc uses gross as volume (i wish it said that) port length being a function of volume and tuning, you'd never finish, or at least I wouldn't.

Are you sure? I've heard a couple different people say to enter the net volume. Even if you do enter gross, you will still need the port volume to know what your total net volume is.

ahhh yes....

Doug,

The Vb measurement is the total volume of the enclosure. Most people use

the gross volume to make things easier. You can subtract out all "internal"

items if you like.

Depending on your application (Home or Auto), I would determine what the

maximum size of enclosure you want to build and then do the math from there.
