Direction of subs in a trunk.

I still don't understand why...but my sub is louder when facing out...I put it about 2 inch's away from the trunk lid.

edit: I have a trunk car and the rear seat folds down...fyi.

its cvause it takes about 15 ft for the waves to fully develop. so if its faced towards the back, then the distance of it traveling from the sub to the back of the car and boucning to the front is greater than if the subs facing forwards. =]

what? Yeah, I've heard it has to do with the wavelength size but it still makes no sense how facing away is louder...

bounces from the back of the trunk.. my friend put a boogie board there to make it more dense to have it bounce back..ig uess more effectively? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

That's bullshit all day but a nice try.
It has much more to do with corner loading and reflections along with how the transfer function of the vehicle works.
haha its not bull. and more to do with corner loading and reflections? thats basically saying the more bouncing inside the car.. the louder.. hence the development of the wavelength

u ever heard of the doppler effect..the sound bounces under the same angle in which it came in only the other direction....higher frequencies are more focused the the low ones and which spread like a bowl in all directions...so yes i would agree with who ever said that its more to do with the corner and reflection

Please show me some articles by some educated people where they mention bass frequencies taking 15 feet to mature. That is complete and utter bullshit.

You're basically saying that if I took a sub in a purely anechoic chamber (no reflections at all) that I would not hear it unless I was standing over 15 feet away. Lawl all day at that.
