This seems like a great deal, doesn't it? I was gonna get a 1606d, but now that I've seen this deal I think I may get the 2400d instead.

What do you guys think?

Oh ya what does this do at 1 ohm?

THanks!

it doesnt say its 1ohm stable, i would just go with a hifonics 2006D if it was me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Hafta stay at budget of $250, Hifonics 2006D is just too much $$$

I know the Directed Audio makes a 2400D that is 1 ohm stable, but I'm not sure if this is the right version/year.

It does say 1ohm in the description above, but not in the specs.

I think the 2400ds were two 1100ds strapped but on the same board. I'm not positive on that but I remember reading it somewhere. I have seen 1100ds do .5 ohms daily and I would guess this could handle it with proper cooling.

The only problem here would be it being refurbished. I have a refurbished 1500d that lasted about 4 months before the RCA inputs quit working and then only lasted about a month after that before it started eating fuses.

Thanks for info, it's probably only gonna be at 1/4 gain since it will be pushing (2) 12" type R's. But some of those defects you talk about are probably not from stress, but from bad refurbish quality.

the r's will take the whole load of that amp, and then some......

they're grossly underrated, and def. overrated efficiency

I have read that it wasnt a good idea to run them at 1ohm.
i think its the newer DEI amps that are rated for 1 ohm also.
Well since I have the Dual 4hom type R's I can only do 1 ohm or 4 ohm and at 4 ohm the amp will push out 1400watt rms.

How will 1400watt rms @ 4ohm from the Directed Audio 2500D compare to the 1600watt rms @ 1 ohm from th e hifonics 1606D?

I've heard the Directed Audio may be more true in power then the hifonics.

no way if I forced the amp at 2400watts @ 1ohm they would get 1300rms each?!!?

or was that comment for the type R's getting the 1400watt rms @ 4 ohms?

honestly you are not gonna hear any difference whatsoever if you ran the directed at 4ohms as compared to the hifonics

how much are you looking to send each sub? and im guessing 250+sh is your pricerange.
Yes, $250ish is where I want to stay at for my budget and I want to give each sub somewhere around 700-900 watts rms., they are in 2.5cubes each

They are going in this box...

I just bought a nice router last night and plan on routing al the edges and then doing a professional type gloss black paint job on it.

hmm, then the 2400D would be a better amp since it will give the option of upgrading later.

You think you could run (4) Type R's off of this 2400D at 2ohms?
