Directed Amplifier

I am looking into purchasing Directed A1004 4-channel amplifier and D800 mono amp.

Due to high heat in my area, plus the fact that my only space available for these amps are under my rear deck placed upside down, amplifiers with built-in fans are a must.

These Directed amps does not have built-in cooling fans, however, the fans do come as an option and, I believe, mounted externally. These two amps have an outboard jack to plug-in the outboard fan.

My local dealer does not have any idea about this fan so they are doing their own research.

Does anyone on this forum know anything about this? How the outboard fan look like? Where to buy them and how much? Anyone using them?

That must be a new model amplifier, because I am unaware of any of the older models coming with that option.

What type of heat issues do you think you will have? I had my Viper mounted under the seat with maybe 3/4" clearance in Sicily for a year, and it only shut off once running it at 2ohms.

Ohh Guam, I would say you should be fine. If you are in the military then you should know about Sicily, it gets around 120-130* during the summer there.

I know for a fact that if you mount your amplifier upside down under the rear deck, the heat goes back up through the circuit boards and fry 'em. With built-in cooling fans, it takes the heat out leaving the interior of the amp cooler even though upside down.
