So my cousin and I are working on car audio together, but he listens more to rap and is much less picky about SQ. He was gonna go with a small amp so I was looking around at more sensitive subs and I recommended him Fi N3, Fi N2 or IDMAX. Fi N3 is what he ordered even though I told him repeatedly to cancel it and get IDMAX. I put 95% of the blame on myself because I did recommend it at first. But I have since read a lot about how it's meant for burping and not musicality. And the Fs is very high.
If he listens to rap, will he care? Is it that bad? We don't have a box built for it yet but I have a ~1cuft sealed box - would it be worth even trying to get any idea of the SQ? Obviously ported is going to sound different but I want to see if this thing is gonna be 1-note only or if it'll at least be not that bad... Edit: WinISD says useless to test in sealed at all :/
We already have the sub and Fi's site says they will charge a 30% restocking fee plus we have to pay the return shipping, of course. That's a lot to eat. I have never had to pay a 30% restocking fee for anything in my life.
What should I do? What would you do? Anyone want to swap a N2-12 for his N3-12? Or anyone wanna trade something like IDMAX + some money for a N3?
