Digital Media Collections (movies/music) What do you have?

Drive Z is all 720/1080p HD movies, about 230 of them

Drive Y is a mix of DVD .iso and XVID .avi, about 220 of them

I also have about 300 more on DVD that I am still working on transferring over

Also what media player does everyone use for playback. Ive been using windows media center, only because its much easier to control with my univeral remote.

What program do you guys use to rip actual DVDs onto your computers? Or do most of you use torrents?

i use VLC player its the whore of the video and audio players it will play anything u give it raw dat files, bin cue. easy to use

oh and i use dvd shrink/anydvd combo to rip the movie off my dvds and then Auto Gordian Knot to convert that 4-5gb .iso file into a 2gb .avi file

x2 except I dont make them smaller lol. Just added The Kingdom and Knocked Up to my collection. Gotta run to BlockBuster later.

Saving 2gb per movie is good when you are talking about close to 1000 of them in my collection

It really isnt making them smaller I am after, but the fact that you need to mount .iso format and when using Meedio as my frontend I just want to be able to click the movie and have it play not screw with mounting it to a virtual drive

This thread makes me sad. lol Mainly because I've been wanting to do something like this, but don't have the computer knowledge to pull it off. Instead I just rent from Netflix, then rip and burn on dual layer discs. Alos I refuse to use torrents, because they always look like crap compared to a no compression dual layer rip/burnt version.

Probably only have 40 legit DVDs and 14 Blu-Rays, compared to 350+ burnt movies. lol

only a couple hundred gigs in video. mostly howard stern tv.
