I recently bought an IDmax with box

the box is tuned to 22hz and very little actual music comes though, the only time I get decent sound is when im listening to VERY bass heavy music

would changing the tuning hz to 33hz make a big difference?

Will it be enough to pick up some drums and such on rock?

Yes it will make a BIG differance.22hz is barely audible and your probly peaking in the low 30's with a big cutoff by the time you reach anything in the 40-50hz range.

For a good daily box I would suggest a tuning of 35-40hz.This will cover a wider range of music then just bass heavy songs.

x2 upper 30s ftw

should be about an 11Hz difference...

As stated above, 22Hz is way too low for car audio. How big is the enclosure as you "might" be able to just seal it off and see how that sounds.

Otherwise I'd check the ID site for recommended specs. I've only built sealed boxes for ID subs, so I can't make any suggestions...

Depends on your listening prefrances. My box is tuned that low and I like it like that.Granted it isn't as loud above 45hz but it is waaaayyyyy more impressive..IMO:)
I fail to understand how you dont see that as contradicting yourself.

Transfer function in most vehicles already fattens up the bottom end. Tuning to 22hz will only increase this. Sure, if you want to impress people with shaking, but lose SQ and output, by all means, tune in the low 20's. But the rest of us are building a system to play music well. Again, low 20's is much closer to HT tuning than car audio.
