Different power ratings

A friend is trying to sell me a amp but when he tells me the watts he says thats it is a different rating than the normal watts type. What are "normal Watts". A watt is a watt. 45w x 4 equals 45w x 4. You may be able to bridge the amp to two channels. Which would probably be like 90w x 2 . That's about it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
