Difference between JL Audio W6 and newer W6v2?

Just curious. I'm leaning towards getting a couple of Image Dynamics ID or IDQ 10" subs.... but have found a pair of what I "think" are older version 10" W6's for a decent price. I know people really like the W6v2...but I'm wondering if they liked the W6.

Are the IDQ's that much better then either of the JL's?

id buy the w6v2's just for the looks lol

but if you can get them at the same price, id go for the w6v2's 2 of em get loud enough for me, and they sound much better than the IDQ's IMO.

W6's are 300 RMS. W6v2's are 400 RMS I believe. Could a pair of either be run at 400 rms and still sound good? (Guy in a shop told me tonight that it shouldnt be an issue)

the old W6s were good woofers. I remember them growing up because my brother had 3 of them in his Camero. I do remember that 2 of them ended up blowing from getting a little more RMS then rated but I bet they were clipped to hell.

yeah i remember a system a guy had in a lexus from about 8 years ago, with 2 12w6's and some big punch amp, probably one of the old power series 1k's, and i remember it being the loudest system i had heard at the time.

my 2nd system was 6 jl12w6's hooked to 2 crossfire 1000 watt amps and it hit really good i was very happy with them..but eventually i needed more so i switched them to 4 jl12w7's..and to me it felt like 1 w7 was like 3 w6's put together..just my opinion.depends on how much the price difference is cause your really not gona be able to tell the difference in 100 watts..

i sold my truck with everything in it has is..and yes i was insane when i got it installed and i was insane when i sold it all..i wana go something different this time just to try it out..my last systems where both with jl subs..and i love them..but i just wana try out other things that are out there..no crime against that..and who said id only go with 1 oz 12.1 lol..

The old w6's are very close to the new W3v2's as far as output and power needs etc. You can probably run 400watts to them but depending on you box anything over that would be risky, if it were for more than a few minutes.
