Diff between Parametric and Graphic EQ ?

My HU can be set to adjust oneway or the other,, whats the diff and which would be better for an Amateur like me to use ? This definition ( from "Car Audio Terms defined") "Parametric EQ An equalizer with adjustable frequency, level and "Q"1" is not clear to me.. graphic = 1 variable...boost or cut on a set frequency with a set slope.

parametric = 3 variables, boost - cut, freq, and slope.

I would read about them on BCAE1.com

Basically Graphic effects an "exact", or narrower frequency, and Parametric has kind of a pyramid effect on a wider, or narrower (whatever you chose. ie Q)range of frequencies. Best I can explain. I would just go to that site and read up. At least that is kind of how I understand it.
