Did my Sundown fry my H/U!??

Pioneers are notoriously crappy. Here is an example....

Pioneer MP7600 - excessive engine whine, staticy preouts, sometimes doesnt eject cd's

I replace it with a

Pioneer Supertuner III (1991 era head unit) - all noise problems go away 100%

my excuse is that I use it for a burp machine, but normal people shouldnt have to put up with that. Pioneer is the WORST offender of all head units. Sony comes in a close second.

why go out and pay 300.00 for a 880 or some similar pioneer hu,then when you hook it up and have engine noise and whine,i mean there is a thread on here about how to fix these problems,if i pay 300.00 for a hu i **** sure shouldn't have to fix it.pioneer use to be good back in the day,but now they are pretty much worthless.

wow, things have gone downhill then.. my first quality deck was a pioneer, back in the late 90's.. in fact its still in use on my fathers boat, never a problem.

i've only had a few experiences w/ pioneer HUs, but my alpine 9835 has treated me well. NOT the dva 9860 though. that thing is super slow and gets really hot and has errors readign discs....

My guess to the problem would be to check your ground resistance at the amp....If it made two different deck nerly fry your amp is most likely back feeding the ground from the radio through the RCA's...If this is the case...the amp would fry that deck or any other deck that you may hook up...Make sure the amp ground resistance is below 1

Ive had more problems with Clarion then with pioneer.

2 brand new clarions, different models.

Both did not take cds.

I've owned Alpine and JVC decks myself... neither of which ever gave me any troubles. The JVC Kameleon deck is still in service in my mother's minivan and the Alpine 9813 is still in service in my old Firebird which I sold to my cousin //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I just installed an old JVC deck that I took out of my Civic into my girlfriends car to replace her 1997 vintage Pioneer deck which somehow is filled with coins... and put a new JVC KD-AR8500 in the Civic.
