you can wire up on voice coil of a dual voice coil sub? I can't get the right impedance wiring both coils. I thought I read a study by someone smarter than me that said it doesn't damage the sub.

my input: don't do it like that. is has 2 for a reason. get the right subs for the application.

You can but it will change the perimeters of the driver and lessen power handing.

Some brands say, xxx rms per coil.

get the right subs, or just use one sub

Although worded very poorly he is correct in that power handling is reduced by less than 50% due to the other coil being able to disapate heat from the coil being used.
