The SONY's I have are 3 ways XS 697's they have a freq range of 30hz-20,000hz with a sensitivity of 93db's I have an old School Sony Cassette with built in EQ and a 7 band SONY old school EQ booster also....I wish i could find pics of my dad's old school sony setup. Bought new in '85. Full logic auto reverse shaft cassette player , 25+25w 7 band EQ/Booster , and 150 watt 3 way 6x9's. I'm not an amp tech so I couldn't say for sure, but I think the switching frequency is critical. Since these amps are basically A/B power supplies, if the switching frequency is off, it might make the amp sound strange if it doesn't burn it out somehow (rail voltage/current off?) ..... I'd stick with similar components, try other brands until you find one close. Try to stay away from cheap china junk for quality.the switching frequency is 60mhz on the originals and i believe 30 on the NTE's
i may be wrong. its been awhile since i checked. it has finals out of an old alpine right now and it works great but those finals are only rated to 80 watts and the originals were 100
