Did i pay too much for this broken amp?

I don't think you paid too much. I would talk to the amp repair techs on here and see what they think the problem could be an how much to fix. Chances are it one or more of the components in the power supply section.

I was thinking the same thing , and if it's identifiable visually or with a DMM , i can fix it. I just may have a hard time finding parts. LOL

;7421094']lol why did you buy a broken amp? that has trouble written all over it :p
Because the older sony amps are generally easy to fix and they sound awesome. Case in point , my uncle just RMA'd a brand new "Rated 500 Watt RMS" 4 channel vibe audio litebox in favor of my 20 year old Sony 4 channel "Rated 220 watt RMS". Totally SMASHED that new amp!! LOL.

To make noobs like you ask questions with your prefab box.
But srsly that should be an easy fix, spooney would have an answer. If you wanted sony dat bad I would have sold myne
But yours is the cream of the crop , and my wallet is filled with cream of crap. LOL

Plus i love a challenge. :p No challenge in buying your amp , i would hook it up , nut on myself and call it a day. LOL
