Did i pay too much for this broken amp?

I was thinking the same thing , and if it's identifiable visually or with a DMM , i can fix it. I just may have a hard time finding parts. LOL
Good deal, glad to hear you know your way around a soldering iron also. If you can identify the part, try to read the numbers off of one of the neighboring parts if they are the same (obviously). You can get parts from Electronic Components Distributor | DigiKey Corp. | US Home Page, mouserelectronics.com and just about any small components store like Radio Shack. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Just make sure you pick high quality replacements, not cheap junk!!

how about the semicunductor company that parts express is affiliated with. NTE. The parts i need for my older sony is NTE36 and 37 if i crossreference it with there table , but the values are slightly different than the original NEC parts. The originals are sa1232 and sc3012.

NTE are generally good semiconductors. Most components don't cross over 100%. As long as the value are within 1-3% or so, you should be fine. I couldn't find the data sheet for the NEC parts, what is different between them and the NTE?

the switching frequency is 60mhz on the originals and i believe 30 on the NTE's

i may be wrong. its been awhile since i checked. it has finals out of an old alpine right now and it works great but those finals are only rated to 80 watts and the originals were 100

BTW CRX , those comps are pretty nice. I tested them today. Active head unit power , 100/3.5kHZ for the mids and 3.5khz/up for the tweets. Pretty nice sound , i have to get a amp in there though , i forgot they are 2 ohms and they had my head unit hot enough to blister my pinky. I quickly disconnected them from deck power once i realized how hot the deck got. LOL

i have a brand new set of old school Sony 6x9's late 80's vintage i believe bnib i'm thinking about running on that amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif
I wish i could find pics of my dad's old school sony setup. Bought new in '85. Full logic auto reverse shaft cassette player , 25+25w 7 band EQ/Booster , and 150 watt 3 way 6x9's. BTW those are the first and only Bi-amp capable sony coaxials i have ever seen. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
