i went to a hardware store and bought the machine a voltage reader that has ohm on it so i hook the red and black connecter up to my speaker terminals on my box of my wired 1 ohm 18" re sx and switch the dial to the ohm symbol and 200 under it and it reads 1.6??? i wired my sub to be at 1 ohm is this bad?

kk why does it read 1.6?
becuase just because the sub is a dual 2 ohm or whatever doesnt mean it is a real 2 ohm. it could be a 2.4 on one coil and 2.5 on another. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If your measuring it with the wires, the wires themselves have resistance that could contribute to the impedance rise your experiencing.

Your sub isn't broken unless the coils read 0 (or are really far off)

well an ohm reader reads resistance so if you weree reading 0 you would have infinite resistance meaning there was no complete circuit but 1 is what you should have. read just 1 terminal at a time.

oh yeah if you have an off reading thats not a problem with sub its a problem with your circuitry however it could casue problems to your equiptment.
