diamond d661 mid blown. Find a new one or new set?

I have a set of diamond d661 components in the front. Well my passenger side mid is about to go. So I have been looking for a new mid, so I dont have to replace the whole set. But cant come up with anything since it is and has been for a while, discontinued. A member said that they have a pair of diamond M361 6.5 mids they can sell me. So my question is are those close enough to the d6's to where I can hook it up in place of the mid that is going out or not?

If I end up having to replace my set. What are some sets that are comparable to the d661's. I will be running it on my diamond d6 600/4 amp.

have you made sure it's actually the mid, and not the crossover itself? what do you mean it's about to go?

sorry wasn't clear on that. It is popping and kind of crackling. This happened two years ago with my original mid. my audio shop guy had a used one laying around so he just threw it in there for free. now this one is doing the same thing. you can also see a tear starting in between the center and the surround.

I think it's time to move on to a new set. Since you like Diamond maybe you'd like the Diamond SXP65A set.

Yes, Probably about time to go to a new set. Just really don't want to put out the money on one right now. (my transmission just went out so I have to pay for that right now). that's why I was trying to figure out if there is anyway for me to find another d6 or run the m361 in its spot with the d6 crossover, not sure if that would even work though. but I will look into that diamond set you recommended.

If the impedance of each woofer is the same that's the main thing to worry about. If they're both 4 ohms, for example, the different replacement woofer should play OK. It might not sound as good as it could at the woofer/tweeter transition, but it should work.

ya, the more I think about that. I dont want to start mix matching a component set, just doesn't sound like a good idea.
