Diamond D6 vs D Series

Can anyone comment on the differences between the Diamond D6 amps and the D Series from around 2010. I was looking at D6 1200.1 and the D1000.1 and the D6 700.4 and the D600.4. They'll be driving Diamond D6 speakers, and the D6 1200.1 or D1000.1 would be powering a D912D4 or an HP12.

D6 700.4- $359

D600.4- $239

D6 1200.1- $439

D1000.1- $299

What would be the best value? What would have the best sound?

I'm leaning towards the D6's. I've heard Diamonds gone down hill in the past few years, and don't want to buy an inferior product. But if the D series were still good, then I wouldn't mind buying them as they'd save me quite a bit of $. These will be replacing my D3 400.4 and my D3 800.1 (Which started smoking in my trunk one day and no longer puts out audio), I've been happy with the SQ from the D3's, but something leaves me wanting more.
