Lightning Audio = an offshoot of Rockford Fosgate - not its own entity

A sales rep bought out an entire company?

Lightning Audio must be paying their salespeople out the arse if one of 'em had enough scratch to buy a whole 'nother company, aye?

While it is possible in these days of cheap money, it would seem odd that a person with the finacial prowless to buy another company would settle for being a salesrep for LA.

I have heard of I-bankers buying companies that make products they like, but then again, some of them pull close to a billion in salary in a given year.

Hell, Rockford Fosgate itself is worth little more than $25MM. It would be a great takeover target if they made any real money.

Seems like I remember that rumor circulating not too terribly long ago myself.

But according to the website there is a new line of D6 amps coming soon so, going by that, apparently there is still some R&D happening and that's a positive sign, I reckon.

Will be keeping an eye out, though...

Well, *if* thats reliable information then they could potentially be bought out on the cheap. I imagine its hard for the smaller companies to compete against the big guys like Sony, RF, Kenwood and the like. (I'm talking mass sales here, sony amps may or may not be crap these days, but they sell a crapton based on name recognition alone!) Still, I was under the impression that diamond had a pretty good user base. We shall see I suppose, maybe some LA rep sweet-talked a venture capitalist into assisting with the purchase? Stranger things have happened....

Diamond was purchased back in December and I don't think that it was by the Harmon Group (Rockford, Lightning Audio, Etc.)

Diamond Audio is definatly not a well run organization and if the info is true

it doesnt surprise me..They have thier hands in too many business entities

and have lost quite a bit of car audio marketshare not too mention many of

the better employees have flew the coupe.......
