Hello, im currently looking to upgrade my system, ive been using a polk audio gnx124 (175rms) running off a kenwood kac 7201 (460wrms) . looking to spend maximum $130 on a subwoofer. I am going to reuse the box i have now which is a sealed 1.25 cubic foot box. The two choices on my mind right now is either a alpine type r or a diamond audio d3. What are your experiences with these two subwoofers and if you guys can suggest other brands that are around that price range that would be good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

im lookin for sq but enough spl to keep it fun lol

thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

first post yay lol

those two subs are in two different classes like comparing apples and oranges. The D3's would work better in that application also check out the image dynamics IDQ's which are slightly more and IA 187's

oh ok, cool, yea im new to car audio so thanks for clearing that up with me lol. the reason i compared them is by the way they are priced ahah. kk ill check the other subs out

The D3's are a nice SQ sub, but like ported boxes. Type R's sound like *** no matter what. SQ can be had with a ported or a sealed box. Its all in the specs and building. I have my Image Dynamics ID8D2V3's in a ported box and they are very musical and get low when I want them to.

i have heard all of them and the D3's are amazing subs and rival much higher priced subs. sealed they are clean, powerful, and impressive off of 5-600rms. ported they are one of the cleanest deep digging monsters out there. comprable to the ID's at a fraction of the price. they sound better than a DD2512 in similar enclosure and same power in same vehicle.

my most recent system was 3-SS RL-i8's which were "SQ" subs and they sounded awesome and dug really low off of 2400rms.

new "downgraded" setup is a Boston Acoustics G5 in a passive radiator enclosure. i got a hell of a deal on it, but most online discounted prices are around $500

other SQ sub expereinces include the older Diamond Mac Daddy Subs, the ID line from IDQ's thru Max line, Arc Flatlines, old school polk momo series from early 2000's, bunch of TC Sounds subs, eclipse,Adire, etc...so my knowledge is not limited. as a former installer i have been thru quite a few builds and tastes

thanks for all the help guys. been great help, ill check out all your suggestions and ill keep all you updated when i get it ^_^

@quest51210 thanks for your offer, but i dont have credit card so i have 2 buy my stuff from a store //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
