DeWalt Sucks

being as we own our own construction company, we use alot of power tools, and everything has let us down with all the abuse they go through but milwaukee tools, those last forever //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'm a dewalt tool guy myself. . But stay away from their cordless impacts. I went through 3 impacts, 6 motors, and two triggers in less than two years. Three other guys I work with had similar problems. I have never had any problems with any of their other tools(and I have thousands invested).

I wound up going with the new makita lithium ion set from makita, not one problem out of it yet.Batteries hold a way better charge, last ten times as long, way lighter, and built tough. Since then, most of my co-workers have switched to the makita set up.

I found out from the repair guy on one of my many warranty trips, that it's because they use cheap plastic teeth on the fan on the back. When people use them as their primary tool for work (running them all day) the plastic tends to get hot. After a little time, say for arguments sake 1 month, the plastic becomes brittle and the teeth of the fan break off and get stuck around the motor, overheating it and burning it out.

Found out what he was talking about when I replaced one of the motors myself that I got from dewaltservicenet.

I can't believe you are the first person to mention this. Milwaukee makes great stuff, their drills take an absolute beating, the only issue I've had is their batteries tend to go rather quickly, but could be due to sitting in a freezing garage through Ohio winters? Regardless they make great stuff. I know my dad had a 12v one for ten years that got absolutely abused and the thing is still going strong today minus it needs a new battery.
