I love the old era of basketball.. Hard nose defense, talking trash.. Hard fouls!! I loved it.. now you cant breath on these super stars.. jordan in his prime in this era would average about 40ppg!! one year, he averaged like 35ppg, 8 rbs, and 7 asst for a season!!!! come on.. thats domination!!!! if MJ wouldnt of taken that time off.. they would of won 7 in a row!!! I respect Kobe's game a lot but he isnt close to MJ.. and in my opinion, Ill take LBJ over Kobe too!!

Shaq hasnt been a presence since 2006 when he won the championship with the Heat.
Kobe is top 5 all time I would say. Maybe as high as 2. Kobe has always been surrounded by FAR more superior talent then MJ had. If MJ played his entire career in his prime, we would have 2-3 more rings I bet with Phil.

Of the top, how many of you can name the starting 5 for Jordan in 96. How many can name the starting 5 for Kobe in his most recent 3 peat. Rest my case.
Ugh, I can't stand it when people make this argument about MJ, as if he was playing straight up scrubs or something lol. He had Pippen, Rodman (one of the best defensive players ever), Steve Kerr (one of the best shooters ever), and Kukoc (sp?) may not have been very popular but he was a solid player. MJ was great no doubt about it, but people try to make it seem like he never had any help.

Side Question: Will Phil Jackson go down as the greatest coach in sports?

I agree with the fact that the NBA has turned soft. It's pretty annoying to watch fouls called for brushing up against someone, or getting a Tech for showing any type of emotion. But I feel we're witnessing the pussyfication of sports in general. Even MMA isn't as hardcore as it used to be. I'm talking about when they were almost glorified street fights lol.

MJ's point average, as impressive as it is, does not do justice to his potential. Its true, Jordan did have a solid team around him, and he was often content to sit back and let Pippen, Kerr, or someone else rack up points if they had a hot hand that night. If he had been a less gracious teammate, more concerned about a legacy or his career stats like so many superstars are today, he could have had a MUCH higher point average.

Jordan excelled at everything he did in the game. On a basketball court, he was like some sort of superior being from another planet. Kobe is an amazing player, but he's no MJ.
