well i'm going to upgrade my head unit and my budget was originally like $170 but of course it's all the way up to $200 now lol. i've been looking around and doing some reading and i've come across the kenwood kdc-x990 and the pioneer deh-p7800mp. they are both refurbished. i also have someone on these forums offering their p880prs for $240, but i've always been weary about used items. what do you guys think i should do?!

here's the ebay links to the head units.

nope. you should be fine if the seller is reputable. somtimes things happen where you need to get rid of your stuff. . . . car gets totalled(like me when i sold my stuff) desprate need of money, getting out of car audio, or the best sceanrio of all. . . when you just want something NEW. I have no hesitation if the user is a reputable seller with good references. I say go for it and save yourself //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif

yea i did a search on the guy and a couple people said he was a real good seller. he does have a handful of references. is the 880 really THAT much better than the kenwood and the other pioneer above?

any reasons why though? i believe i read the only difference between the 880 and the 780 is that you can go active with the 880.... also, is $240 a good price for a used 880?

With regards to my thread (9835 vs 880PRS) in this section, I finally auditioned a 880 last Saturday.

It has that classical look all around it and its display is amazing, sound quality is good and going from one feature to another is easy. Its tweakable due to the 16band EQ, T/A and I'm sure the 24-bit BB DACs help as well.

The 880 sure looks like a million bucks!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

Right now, you can get a 880 in ebay for around $275 +$25 shipping, for a total of $300. I believe I also saw a seller that has a BIN for $250, but that got swiped fast.

Like the rest said above, if you can get it at $240 shipped from any members with good refs. then thats cool.

But if you want to give yourself a new unit for $60 more, then thats cool too.

thanks for the input. i think i'm gonna go with the 880.... hopefully this seller is reliable.

The only BNIB car audio equipment I've ever bought was a eD 15kv.2 and NiNe.2. The kv.2 blew within a month, the NiNe.2 shorted out a little while after. Everything else I own was previously used and it was as good as new (unless otherwise stated by seller) when I recieved it. Buying used is definately a good way to go, great way to save money. Check references, ask for pictures with name/date/model, and ship through UPS/FedEx, ect. and you should be safe.
