Deciding on in-dash NAV

I just bought another Alpine Nav system for my other car, this one based on a IVA-106 insted of a 310...the NVE-72 or whatever, not the Blackbird thingy.

I still think its really quite awesome...hence the reason I have two.

No problems with the d3 here, You will need to get the update disk tho. But with all the new development everywhere thats only normal. You have to insert the east or west disk with the d3 to get it started and once your route is planed you can take it out. But i just leave it in and it acts like a built in HDD cause i never use cds, i use my ipod and it works awesome.

People still use cds?!

The d3 is very user friendly and right now has some killer deals out there.

how do you feel about the speed of the scroll when using ipod?

Most of the concerns have been addressed such as clarity/brightness during daytime, ipod functionality and how it listed things alphabetically instead of the proper cd/playlist order, bluetooth, and general use of the avic. I personally haven't had a chance to update mine but with all these things corrected it's going to make things much better (not that it isn't already). Good luck.

the kenwood ddx 712 and 812 is awesome.

i have one of each, in a yukon (712) and an 812 in my 71 chevelle.

the 712 is cheaper, i can get it for about 525, but if you have the money the 812 is a bad little toy.

the ipod function works great, and you can put pics and you tube clips and all sorts of other stuff on with a usb flash drive

ive used most of those and if not ive messed around with them

The D3 for $5xx is a great price. I really liked my D3, the abaility to load your own pics as backgrounds, the ipod control(minus the scrolling) the nav always worked very well for me (DFW area)

The eclipse units to me just didnt do it for me. The menus looks just cheesy to me.

Kenwoods are great to but im just partial to Pioneer
