Deciding on in-dash NAV

Which units are considered the best for around $800 (including refurbished ones on eBay)?

I've only looked into:

Pioneer avic-z1, avic-z2, avic-d3, and f700bt

My main concern is ipod functionality.

It seems these units get mixed reviews so it's hard to decide.

Any opinions/suggestions are welcome. Unit will be going into 2008 350z.

The iPod functionality on the F series is great. It catalogs your library and voice command works pretty well. "Play album, Show artist.."

I would strongly suggest going to this site. http://www.avic411.com It seems that Pioneer has stopped mailing the F series due to many problems, ipod connection, etc. I would suggest waiting until all the kinks are worked out of the F series.
I don't have any major problems with mine. It does take about a full minute for the unit to completely boot up. Music begins playing within 15seconds of turning the car on. I haven't had any of the problems with iPod or bluetooth connectivity like the majority of people. Pioneer made an official statement and they're working on an update. You can get one now and update it when it arrives or just wait it out. I'd recommend you wait.

what are the cons of the avic-d3?
I don't own a D3 but from what I've heard there were problems with the nav. You have to insert a disc that contains maps for the nav to fully operate. Sometimes the D3 will choose a route that isn't the quickest and take you on some other streets before you arrive at your destination.

is the f700bt easy to update?
i'm really anxious to get a HU in the car so I can just have my iPod instead of CDs everywhere.
There aren't any updates yet. Pioneer has announced they are working on one but when it will come out is anybody's guess. It will probably be uploaded via SD card but I'm not sure.

i will basically be only listening to music from my ipod, so i don't care about the single disc slot on the AVIC-D3.

Is the iPod scroll on the unit THAT slow? it looks like I can find one for about $550 shipped and it seems worth it.
