Decided to start my new panels. 93 ford ranger

well managed to get the other panel formed up and fabric stretched and it resined. Will be adding 2 layers of matt and resin hopefully tomorrow. Hopefully order my plexi pieces soon as well as speakers so i can get my A-pillars started to house the tweets.

Anyone got any thoughts as to what color i should paint them or any designs in mind? also all the other panels will be gettin pulled to be smoothed and painted as well....also custom fiberglass center console is next on the list after these are done.

Well finally got my comps in this week so progress will be made on the A-pillars......then time for the body filler....also picked up a gallon of Rage Gold this week...Off work ALL next week but have graduation from highschool Saturday so hopefully ill get ALOT done.

FINALLY gettin a lil more progress done...got tied up tracking down a local place that carries Rage Gold as well as deciding on what components so i can get my plexi done.

Comps came in this week (2 sets of Audiopipe 6.5s, figured everyone was loving the amps so y not try out the comps.) So i started on the A-pillars for the tweeters.

theres not....the majority of 6.5" speakers have the same cutout size or pretty close to the same size.
He is going to make new mounting brackets to put on top of the glass it seems, if so he can adjust accordingly.

Do you cut holes in the back of the plastic panel behind the comps or leave it sealed? I would think leaving it sealed would cause noise issues with the plastic vibrating and such.

No..the holes are the right size for these comps..whik3 lookin for comps I noticed most have the same or nearly the same cutout size so its not a problem.

There's anough airspace in these that they will b3 left sealed.

That square tweet mount you made looks like shit man

im glad you think so.
Who cars if the hole he made is a little crooked or something, teh speekaz are going in there. I think it looks pretty sweet dude. Im watching this thread to sort of see how its done. Bro is still in highschool or graduating or whatever which I give cred cause this is more than i could do at that point. I will say that they prolly could have been rounded off but it all depends on what youre going for

Thanks for the support. If they turn out weird lookin and i dont like them ill scrap em and go get another set at the junkyard for cheap and redo them...not that big of a deal. but the actual mount is only 1 inch from the pillar.....in the pics it looks like a huge space but like i said its only 1 inch. after matt and body filler they will look nice.....hopefully.

and yes im graduating from Highschool June 12 so im still learning this whole glassin' process. so im sure i will make mistakes on design but i dont have to prove anything to anyone.....all that matters is if i like them.

well decided i didnt like the look of the tweet mounts so i ripped em off and redone them tonight.:

i think they flow much better now and match the panels a bit more.

I would make sure the door will close with your panel on it. Looks like you built up where the door meets the dash and there is not much room there IIRC.

Got first coat of Rage Gold on all 4 pieces today and got em sanded down. Got another layer to do tomorrow then block sand em all. Prime em all up and install. Will have to install em before i get the plexi and LEDs on the top piece but itll be aight. Just look stupid for a few days. Heres a pic of one of the panels done...didnt take pics of everything cause it all looks the same at this stage.

And yes the door closes...the gap is about a 1/4 inch so itll fit.
